After 13 years of turning in mediocre comedies and whatever the hell Club Dread was, Broken Lizard has announced Super Troopers 2 is in the works.

Kevin Heffernan (Farva) and Steve Lemme (Mac) stated on a Baltimore sports talk radio station that the script for Troopers 2 was complete and that the troupe plans on filming the sequel as early as this summer for a 2014 release. But that’s not all, they also announced plans for making Potfest — that throwaway joke from the end of Beerfest — a reality as well.

I suppose Broken Lizard has hit the point in their trajectory were they’re now just rehashing material from ten years ago. To put it in musical terms, they’ve now reached their “Greatest Hits” era.

Given the means of the announcement (radio) in 2013 — my expectations for the Super Troopers sequel isn’t all that high. Setting aside the fact that no studio is attached — that they’ll reveal — expect Super Troopers 2 to be cheap. I’m talking direct-to-DVD standards here. Not to mention the time for a sequel to that film passed long, long ago.

Didn’t they become cops at the end of the first film anyway?
